CUTTING:

If you have extra strips from Small Bites of Confetti at Midnight, you may be able to use these. Cut more strips as needed to equal the total number of strips or sections below.  If you have more than 12 different cool fabrics and 12 different warm fabrics, that's OK. More variety in this quilt works great!

Note:    Cool fabrics are blue violet (BV), blue green (BG), and red violet (RV).   Warm fabrics are red orange (RO), yellow orange (YO), and yellow green (YG)

From every warm fabric and every cool fabric, cut 1 strip, 2½” x 42”.

Cut each strip in half so you have 2 strips of each fabric, 2½” x 22” approximately. You don't have to cut the strips exactly 22” long. Just cut the strip, whatever its original length, in half to you have 2 pieces, 2½” wide.

Set aside 1 strip, 2½” x 22”, of each warm and each cool fabric. You will use these to make warm Four Patch Blocks and cool Four Patch Blocks.

From the remaining warm and cool strips, 2½” x 22”:

From each cool strip, 2½” x 22”, cut 3 squares, 2½” x 2½”, for a total of 36 cool squares. You will use 32.

From the remainder of the blue green and blue violet strips (not the red violet strips), you will cut border strips. Use variety. You may need to cut additional 2½” strips from the blue green and blue violet fabrics.

Borders:

            4 strips, 2½” x 10½”

            4 strips, 2½” x 12½”

            4 strips, 2½” x 14½”

            4 strips, 2½” x 16½”

4 strips, 2½” x 18½”

4 strips, 2½” x 20½”

4 strips, 2½” x 22½”

4 strips, 2½” x 24½”

Remember to use variety. Remember to use only blue green and blue violet strips. Remember to cut additional 2½” strips from your blue green and blue violet fabrics as needed.

From each warm strip, 2½” x 22”, cut 7 squares, 2½” x 2½” for a total of 84 warm squares. You will use 80.

From the white/light gray fabric, cut 5 strips, 1½” x 42”.

From the black fabric, cut 5 strips, 1½” x 42”.
